Epic Fail!

Well, we all know what they say about good intentions..... I have failed miserably with my New Year's resolution to get back into shape. I could blame it on the copious quantities of snow, or the cold or the darkness. Shoot! I could find a hundred ways to rationalize my inactivity, but I won't. I've been lazy. End of story!

After struggling to zip the last pants I bought (because everything else was too tight) I had an epiphany. If I don't DO something, it's only going to get worse. At that point, I set my sights on March. Despite the dread I felt, I hauled my large arse to the gym after work Monday. I also hauled it to the gym on Tuesday. One day at a time.....

The gym scales confirmed my fears, and I am at the highest non-pregnancy weight I have ever been. Perhaps this was the kick in the pants I needed. Numerical PROOF.

I'm not limiting myself to the South Beach diet just yet, but I am packing my lunch, and eating smaller portions at dinner. I'm also forcing myself to drink an entire bottle of water each day BEFORE I allow myself to drink my Diet Mt. Dew. I can't believe how much you have to pee when you drink so much water!!!! That's a GOOD thing, right??!!

How is everyone else doing? Let's get this site rolling again......spring is on the way:)

  1. OK-I am not doing good AT ALL. So I am in. Not sure what I am going to do but it will be something. I'll start by saying this is the biggest I have ever been~just 5 pounds shy of giving birth. Not even sure what happened or how? But I plan on more movement and less carbs. I'll work on one pound at a time! Hey it's a start! Keep up the good work BHE! And thanks for getting us moving again.

  2. Girl, so proud of you for getting moving again.

I am in the very same boat. I moved my bike and trainer into my office. And there it sits. Eyeing me, mocking me. But do I get on it? No, I pop a handful of Hot Tamales! Today is the day. I will ride today. No more excuses.

  3. I'm doing horribly - still have a stomach large enough to catch anything that misses my mouth. Keith has lost 40 pounds and I hate him for it. He just seems so self-rightous always checking his WW points on his Blackberry. BUT although I'm jealous of him, my friend and I have been walking at the mall three times a week. We're there with all those senior citizens (who walk faster than we do!) and we walk two miles each time. Keith wants to walk with us, but he's too skinny to be seen with us right now.

  4. And, just last week, Anabeth asked (as she was lifting up my shirt) if I had a baby in my tummy. Talk about motivation! Yes, that's the day I moved the bike inside...

  5. Thank you guys for being so honest.....I'm feelin' the LOVE here!!!

I went to the gym today (three in a row) and really pushed myself! Last year, I was doing strictly yoga and pilates, and I wasn't losing any weight....despite the fact that I didn't miss a day for four months!! I'm going to do cardio four days, and yoga one day. Tomorrow is YOGA!! A sweet reward for the time spent in the torture chamber;)

  6. I got a call from my Dr today giving me the test results from my thyroid check up. He wants to increase my dosage. He also added that may be the reason for my weight gain. I have gained 15 pounds since my last check up 3 months ago. (insert pig noise) I have been walking but going to pump it up a notch. Something has to give other than the elastic in my sweat pants!

  7. OK, so I lied. I didn't ride yesterday. And today's not looking so good either...

  8. I'm with you ladies!
All the work that went into losing pounds last year has failed and the poundage is back! I haven't been working out and the stress has been awful (and for me, that is my diet killer - I'm a stress eater).

BHE - thank you for getting us motivated again!

  9. OK Girls, I started on my new thyroid meds today and hopefully that will give me some more energy. I was wondering why all of a sudden I could not get enough rest. But then again toting this big ass of mine around all day can wear one out! I'm pumped!

  10. I went to the gym M,T, & W last week. I was home sick Thursday, and forced myself to go in to work Friday. The only good thing about being sick is that I've had no appetite. Hopefully, that will offset the lack of exercise. I'm right back at it tomorrow, although it will be a bit slower.....I still feel pretty cruddy:( Keep up the good work, ladies!!!
